I grew up on Doctor Who; mostly on VHSs my dad had taped off late-night broadcasts. And I loved Tom Baker, because of course everyone loves Tom Baker, but Peter Davison was and mostly remains my favorite (although Matt Smith occasionally edges ahead). If you ask me why, I can’t give a clear answer—some of it is probably familiarity: he’s the doctor on the side of the tin Tardis piggy bank I’ve had for quite literally as long as I can remember; and some of it is probably because when he first regenerated, he got all his idioms mixed up, which I foggily recall five-year-old me finding irresistibly charming. Either way, when I watched this, there was some yelling and gleeful flailing—“No—well, a wife.”—and a few tears, and I love Tennant, and Ten, a bit better than I did eight minutes ago.
“You know what, Doctor? You were my Doctor.”
I quite literally cannot watch this short without crying. Thank you for sharing. <3
