From Retro Space Images: “Project Mercury astronauts John Glenn and Alan Shepard are joined by NASA Public Affairs Officer Col. John “Shorty” Powers at this February, 1961 Cape press conference.” For some reason I always get really excited when I see photos of Shorty Powers. I’m not sure why, I think it’s the “NAME THIS NASA EMPLOYEE” thing.
