Greatest Thing You Have Seen All Day: In 1996, Alan Bean guest-starred in an Olsen twins special. It was called “The Case of the U.S. Space Camp Mission,” and it featured the girls traveling to Huntsville to help NASA with a problem on the shuttle. Skip to 16:09 in the video, when Bean gives Mary-Kate and Ashley some prudent advice.

He also answers questions about spaceflight at the end of the program, at 27:58. One girl asks if he passed by any stars on the way to the moon. Bean says that this is a great question, because his mother asked him the same thing.

OH MY KOKO!

I have been looking for this episode for YEARS! I LOVED this series when I was little! This was the series that introduced me to the mystery genre, as well as the first place I ever heard of Space Camp.

I have to admit, I only now get why “Cape Canaveral called Space Camp for help?!?” is funny.

This is really interesting to watch now that I’ve been to Space Camp, because a lot of things at the Space and Rocket Center have changed. The simulators are in different places and the Saturn V is inside now.

“Unfortunately, a meatball fit perfectly into the holes in the shuttle’s gas tank.”

LightThisCandle, I cannot express in words how much I want to thank you for finding this! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Okay, am I a dork for tearing up when sweet Al was describing the Earth from the Moon? I LOVE THAT ADORABLE MAN!

I’m so glad everyone liked it! I was really excited when I found it, because it is ridiculously adorable.

OH MY GOD.
